Headcanon that Steve does end up working at the police station and one night, after a particularly bad day of work, he’s grumbling about how he messed up and that he’s probably the “dumbest one around there.” Of course he’s in the middle of chauffeuring the kids somewhere and El says, “No, that’s Callahan, Hop told me” from the backseat. And then she says, “Don’t tell Hop I told you that.” Steve says, “Okay kid,” and reaches out his pinky because he knows how much she likes promises and especially pinky promises. And then they all go get milkshakes
